§ 14.150. Special permits—Process.

  • (a) All applications for special permits shall be processed by the city clerk who shall refer such application to the council member for the ward affected by the use or activity, and the appropriate department for review for compliance with this Code. The special permit shall be issued by the city clerk for uses or activities not regulated by a specific review process defined by this Code where the council member and the department recommended approval. The city clerk shall refer all other applications for special permits to the appropriate subject matter committee of the city council for recommendation.

    (b)

    Publication. Every person to whom the city council grants a special permit for any purpose whatever shall be charged with and shall pay to the city clerk the amount necessary to defray the cost to the city of the publication of the final action of the council, by motion, resolution, ordinance or committee report granting such permit in the official paper of the city at the rates specified in the city's contract for such publications, but no such charge shall in any case be less than five dollars ($5.00).

    (c)

    Duration. All special permits issued by the city council shall terminate and be void one (1) year after issuance unless the use or activity approved by the permit is commenced within such one (1) year. (Code 1960, As Amend., § 500.010; 89-Or-130, § 2, 7-14-89; 95-Or-082, § 1, 5-12-95)
