§ 173.520. General duties.

  • The bureau of fire prevention shall enforce all laws and ordinances of the State of Minnesota and of the city pertaining to fire safety.

    (a)

    The prevention of fires;

    (b)

    The storage, sale and use of explosives and flammables;

    (c)

    The installation and maintenance of automatic and other fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers and equipment;

    (d)

    The maintenance and regulations of fire escapes;

    (e)

    The means and adequacy of exits in case of fire from factories, schools, hotels, lodging houses, asylums, hospitals, churches, halls, theaters, and all other places in which numbers of persons work, live or congregate from time to time for any purpose;

    The bureau shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as are set forth in other sections of this article and as may be conferred and imposed upon it from time to time by law. (Code 1960, As Amend., § 641.020; 2009-Or-074, § 16, 8-28-09)
