§ 99.870. Wires on or near bridges.

  • (a) All wiring systems on bridges shall be incorporated as part of the bridge structure in a conduit system.

    (b)

    Electric supply conductors which pass under, over or near a bridge shall have clearances therefrom not less than given in Section 234D of Part 2 of the sixth edition of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

    (c)

    Nothing contained in this article shall be construed as prohibiting the creation of wires and the necessary poles or brackets for their support over the Mississippi River, within the city limits, but no such wires, poles or brackets shall be erected or maintained without the consent of the city council and such permission may in case of necessity be revoked. The city council shall be the sole judge of such necessity. (Code 1960, As Amend., § 146.030)
