§ 99.640. Inspector's duties.

  • Such inspector shall inspect and become thoroughly informed of the location, condition and operation of all outside overhead and underground electric wires, cables, conduits, fixtures and apparatus in the city, including telegraph, telephone, electric light and power, and all other electric poles, wires, cables, conduits, fixtures and apparatus. The inspector shall see that all such electric wires, cables, conduits, fixtures and apparatus are properly and safely constructed, placed, installed, supported, insulated, maintained and operated in conformity with the requirements of this Code relating thereto, and so as to prevent fires or accidents or injury to persons or property. The inspector shall cause the removal, at the expense of the respective owners thereof, of any and all electric wires, poles, cables, fixtures and apparatus which are or shall become unsafe, dangerous, dead, abandoned or likely to cause fires or cause accidents or injury to persons or property in the city, and shall perform such other duties as shall be required by the city engineer in connection with the supervision, oversight and inspection of all such electric poles, wires, wiring, conduits, cables, fixtures and apparatus and the construction, placing, installation, support, insulation, maintenance and operation thereof, outside of buildings.
