§ 89.50. Certificate of grades required.

  • Every application for a permit to construct a new building fronting upon any street, alley or sidewalk, or to move an existing building to a location fronting upon a street, alley or sidewalk in the city, shall have attached thereto and made a part thereof at the time said application is presented to the director of inspections, a certificate signed by the city engineer setting forth the latest established grade of the street, alley or sidewalk, or all thereof, upon which said building or buildings front or will front when moved. Such certificate shall be made by the city engineer in duplicate, one copy of which the city engineer shall retain and place in permanent files properly indexed. This section shall not apply to the construction or placing of a private garage upon any land immediately adjacent to or abutting upon an alley which has already been paved with concrete or so-called blacktop.
