§ 105.75. High-pressure steam and high-pressure hot water piping.

  • No permit for construction, installation, alteration, or repair or any high-pressure steam or high-pressure hot water piping shall be issued by the building official to any person unless such person has a valid steam fitters' contracting license issued by the State of Minnesota, Department of Labor and Industry, pursuant to Section 326.46 et seq., Minnesota Statutes. All persons so licensed shall, prior to obtaining any permit from the building official, file with said building official their current state license number and no permit shall be issued to any person without said license number being on file in the office of the building official. The standards for the installation, alteration, or repair of high-pressure steam or high-pressure hot water piping within the City of Minneapolis shall be as set out in the State of Minnesota High Pressure Code, Chapter 5230 of the department of labor and industry, steam fitter rules and codes for power piping systems.

    "High-pressure steam piping," for the purposes of this section, shall mean steam piping operating at a pressure of fifteen (15) pounds or more per square inch gauge. High-pressure hot water piping shall mean piping operating at a pressure in excess of thirty (30) pounds per square inch gauge and exceeding a temperature of two hundred fifty (250) degrees Fahrenheit.
