§ 289.10. Definitions.

  • The following words shall have the meaning ascribed to them, unless the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Fire extinguisher means any device or equipment designed or intended for use in extinguishing fires and containing a liquid or powder using pressure, either mechanical or chemical, as a propellent for such liquid or powder or containing a toxic liquid or powder which vaporizes when exposed to a certain degree of temperature.

    Hydrostatic testing means pressure testing by hydrostatic methods.

    Portable fire extinguisher means a device which contains within it chemicals, fluids or gases for extinguishing fires, the means for application of its contents to that purpose, and is capable of being readily moved from place to place.

    Servicing includes, but is not limited to, maintaining, repairing, testing, filling, refilling, charging or recharging. (Code 1960, As Amend., § 351.020; 76-Or-091, § 2, 6-25-76)
