§ 227.120. Offensive businesses.

  • No person shall keep or use any slaughterhouse (except in accordance with title 20 of this Code), or slay, kill or butcher any animal, or melt or dry out any rough tallow, or keep or have any stale, putrid or stinking fat, grease or meat. No person shall keep any undressed or dry hides, or other offensive or nauseous substance or liquid at any place from whence the stench thereof shall extend to any street, alley or public ground, or to any dwelling. No owner or occupant of any grocery, cellar, tallow chandler's shop, pickling house, meat shop, soap factory, tannery, brewery, distillery, dye-house, stable or other place of business, shall suffer or permit the same to become nauseous, offensive or unhealthy, or suffer or permit any litter or garbage to be thereon or swept therefrom upon any street or alley, or suffer or permit any foul, unclean, nauseous or offensive liquid or substance to pass therefrom or from any premises under such person's control adjacent thereto, into, over or upon any street or alley, or open drain, gutter or sewer, or over or upon any private grounds of any other person.
