PB1-8. - Employee background checks.

Latest version.
  • The park and recreation board provides services to children through a variety of recreation programs and is therefore concerned for the safety and welfare of those children.

In order to ensure the safety and welfare of children who participate in recreation programs, the park and recreation board shall require that all applicants for employment by the park and recreation board and all persons who perform services on a voluntary basis for the park and recreation board shall be required to undergo a background check for crimes defined in Minn. Stat. § 299C.61, subd. 2 (as amended) and such other crimes as defined by park board policy. Applicants and volunteers who are denied employment or the opportunity to perform services on a voluntary basis as a result of a background check conducted under this provision shall be notified of the reason for the denial.

The Park and Recreation Board hereby authorizes a third party administrator (TPA) to conduct background checks pursuant to the Park Board's background check policy and procedures.

This section supersedes and replaces all prior actions related to background checks.
