§ 6. Ordinances: Enactment Procedure.

  • Ordinances shall be passed by a majority vote of the fixed membership, taken by yeas and nays. After an ordinance has been passed, the Clerk shall engross all amendments, if any, and produce an official, conformed copy which shall be transmitted to the Mayor. If approved by the Mayor, or if the Mayor's veto is overturned by the City Council, the City Clerk shall assign the ordinance a number and enroll the same in the permanent records of the City. Each enacted ordinance shall become effective upon publication in the City's official newspaper unless an alternate effective date is provided within the ordinance. If an alternate effective date is provided within the ordinance, then the ordinance shall become effective upon the date stated within the ordinance.
