§ 8. Consideration of Mayoral Veto

Latest version.
  • Any action vetoed by the Mayor shall be reconsidered at the next regular meeting of the City Council. The reconsidered action shall be placed before the City Council in the same form, without amendment or substitute, and the question put to the City Council shall be: "Shall the decision of the City Council stand, notwithstanding the veto of the Mayor?" If two-thirds of all Members vote in the affirmative on the question, then the veto of the Mayor shall be overturned. In the absence of a two-thirds vote of all Members, the veto of the Mayor shall be sustained.
