§ 7. Presentation of Official Acts to the Mayor

  • All official acts of the City Council, except those pertaining to its own organization, rules, and procedures, are subject to the consideration and approval of the Mayor. Within five days of such presentation (Sundays excepted), the Mayor must either: 1) approve and sign the action(s); or 2) veto the action(s) and return the same, together with the Mayor's objections thereto, to the City Clerk. If any ordinance, resolution, or other act of the City Council is not returned by the Mayor within the allotted five-day period, it shall be deemed to have been approved without the Mayor's signature and shall the same force and effect as if formally approved by the Mayor.
